Hello!

These last couple of months have been manic for me, so music has been a necessity recently to keep me sane! I haven’t been to a gig in a very long time, which is saddening. However, whilst reminiscing about the Protoje gig I went to last May, I stumbled across their new album. I was very excited…. and, they still remain on top for me!

So, to kick off my August music favourites we have Protoje’s new song…

No Guarantee – Protoje (feat. Chronixx)

Like many of Protoje’s songs, it has the ability to relax me and manages to enlighten my mood tremendously. His new album didn’t disappoint whatsoever and it is filled with hearty songs. I definitely recommend giving it a listening to, if contemporary reggae is your cup of tea. I will definitely be going to their next gig in the UK, it is such a surreal environment and I love it.

Toast to our differences – Rudimental (feat. Protoje, Hak Baker and Shungudzo)

My second favourite is a very new release, with Rudimental releasing their new album ‘Toast to our Differences’ this September. The music consists of modern reggae and pop – creating a banger! It is such a good song and is definitely a summer tune to get you in a good mood.

Easy – Next Town Down

With a mixture of R&B and Soul, this makes for a really chilled tune. Relating closely with Neyo and Chris Brown, they’re an up and coming group making good music. All of their songs put me in a happy mood and are good for some background music whilst reading or doing something productive.

Lost Boy – Ruth B.

For anyone who knows me, knows that I tend to steer away from female artists as I generally don’t really like their music. But, I fell in love with this song and haven’t stopped playing it for weeks. It tells the story of Peter Pan, and adds a unique twist with her amazing voice. This is definitely a favourite for me.

The Formula – Russ

This American Hip-Hop artist has been a favourite of mine for a long time and his songs will more than likely be in my top list very often. This song is another chilled one, perfect for relaxing or reading a book.

Badman – Skillinjah

Reggae is a huge part of my music taste so it is to no shock that Skillinjah is in my top list. His album ‘Emergency Spliff’ has been one of my favourite albums for at least 10 months and I keep going back to it. Badman and Miss Bell take the top spot for my favourite songs on the album. They are amazing songs and I will be listening to them for another 10 months.

Still feel. – Half•alive

My final favourite song for this month is Still Feel. By Half•alive. I am not usually one for indie music but I do love this song a lot. It is a perfect summer tune and puts me instantly in a great mood. They are an up and coming band and are starting to release a lot of new and exciting work, which I look forward to.

So, this is my top August favourites. Likewise to many, music will remain a big part of my life and I am excited to see what these artists will be releasing in the future.

Have an amazing day.
