Hello strangers!

I have a bit of a confession… My ‘May Reading List’ did not go quite to plan. I have been rather busy over the last two months or so, with moving back home from University, to preparing for my sister’s wedding and of course, working. I have not picked up a book in so long and it is really agitating me. So, my goal this month is to get through this reading list and let you know how I get on with it.

I have decided to go back to my teenage reading style and re-read some of my old favourites, which incorporate mystical beings and wild adventures!

Wonderfully my first choice is…

Divergent – Veronica Roth

It is a known fact that this trilogy was a widespread phenomenon and stole the hearts of many young adults around the world. Set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian Chicago, society is divided between five sectors, each a particular virtue. I know for a fact that re-reading this trilogy will bring back the excitement that I felt when I first read it, and I am excited to experience that again.

The Maze Runner – James Dashner

The Maze Runner is another well-known series that has been made into a film franchise. I also very excited to delve back into this dystopian universe!

The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins

I seem to be repeating a lot of my teenage favourites. I read this trilogy around 8 years ago, so I am intrigued to see my views on it after having a much wider knowledge on literature.

The Lady of the Rivers– Philippa Gregory

Interestingly, I first fell in love with this story through the adapted TV series ‘The White Queen’. For those who know me quite well will know I love a BBC historical drama, I can’t get enough of them. I only got through 3 out of 6 of these novels from the series. Consequently, I have decided to start from scratch and read it all again.

Ikigai (The Japanese secret to a long and happy life) – Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles

“Your ikigai is at the intersection of what you are good at and what you love doing” -Hector Garcia. In Japan, millions of people have ikigai – a reason to jump out of bed in the morning. I have read this short book thoroughly once and I fell in love with it. I am looking forward to re-reading it a lot.

I have definitely delved back into my past novels and I am excited to re-read and fall in love with the books that made me love reading! I am most excited to read Philippa Gregory, I know for a fact her writing style is one of my favourites!

Have an amazing week everybody!
